REGRETS
REGRETS
Now she is worried about the kids,
worried about their fees. They are chased out of school, what kind of life is
this? She doesn’t even have a job, her income is unstable. They hungry for days
without food on their table. She feels all alone because nobody cares, no
self-confidence to overcome her fears. Her only companion is declared missing. I
guess life is saying something……so please listen.
She’s like; “what have I done wrong?”
I was so in love with this man, now he is all gone. I will need someone by my
side in the long run to guide me through, because every time I’m weak, there is
always a strong one”. She once told me “Sir, your rich words are not for the poor
me. I won’t feel any better if you paint or draw me. I’m in the dark cloud because
everything is stormy. This story about the future is beginning to bore me”.
She use to dream about a lot of things
she wanted to be. Now she’s trapped chasing it and she wants to be free. She
wanted to go to college, grab a knowledge and graduate. She told her boyfriend;
“I
am a virgin and I would be glad if you wait patiently for the time we get
married. I swear, I would lose my focus if at this point I carry”. Well,
away by her infatuation, trying to get some satisfaction, her boyfriend is fed
up. He is looking for some action. He begins to complain that the love they
both share isn’t sweet again. He hunts for the pleasure that his girl is not
giving him. Now she is crying out “oh my God, he cheated”. I guess
your selfish power is about to be defeated. She tries revenging by dating
someone else. He got her raped. Now she’s sitting all confused, in a state of
shock……telling the world that she was used.
Very pathetic, right? But have you ever
wondered how a zoo-keeper could keep a 5-tonne elephant and keeping it from
running away? This is done by controlling the elephant’s mind. How? When a baby
elephant is trained, a rope is tied to its leg and then tied to an iron pole,
secured on the ground. The baby elephant tries pulling the rope but it is
unable to break or pull it from the iron pole. Eventually, it will give up……. From
that point forward, when the elephant’s leg is secured, it believes running
away is impossible. Even though it’s fully capable of escaping and has been
there for a long time. Why? Because it remembers the struggle it went through. One
of the characteristics of an elephant is that “they never forget things”.
Humans are like that too. Our thinking limits us, just as an elephant does. Usually,
it is because of fear. The thing is that “fear can steal your dreams”. You may
be afraid of failure……but always remember that it is an experience.
There
is the kind of regret that leads to despair, because you don’t think God’s
grace is sufficient to cover your sins. This kind of situation draws you closer
and makes you more dependent on him. You become more alive, more concerned,
more sensitive, more relevant, more passionate, more responsible and come out
with purity of heart. A writer, JON
WALKER once wrote “as the economy closed in, I began to regret
not buying a less expensive house. If only we had stayed in our first house. I can,
“if only” I put myself into depression and stagnation when I’m stuck between
regret and forward motion. This also makes us believe that past experiences,
events or mistakes are bigger than our existence."
We live in “if only or what if”
moments more than we realize. They wrap us up in a sense of hopeless paralysis.
We fear the bad choices we are about to make and the choices we face. God pours
his grace into the present. Our walk is one where we make a decision and we
stick with it, trusting that even if we make mistakes, God is big enough to
turn it around.
When REGRETS
becomes ungodly, you find yourself submerged in self-pity. Instead, look to him
to work things out for the good of those he has called according to his Purpose.
Thank you for your time reading this beautiful piece. I would love to get feed-back from you. Feel free to send your comments and I would gladly respond.
